Parts of western Scotland and northwest England are expected to see the coldest temperatures early on that day, according to WX Charts – with freezing winds expected.
The cold snap is set to come just days after reports of a 350-mile wall of rain crashing over Britain on Tuesday, September 24.
The Met Office long-range weather forecast states that there is a chance ‘more unsettled conditions’ will develop towards the end of the month.
Its forecast for the week from Saturday, September 28, states: “Typical Autumn weather will probably affect the UK with a mix of weather types during late September and early October.
“Periods of wet, unsettled weather will likely be broken up by some spells of more settled, drier weather.
“Overall, the wettest conditions will probably be in the west with the east drier.
“Temperatures are most likely to be close to or slightly above average.”
