A UK seaside town which is just 15 minutes from Brighton is winning new residents sold by its lower property prices.

Brighton is a honeypot for tourists and those eager to live in a beautiful, bustling town that’s packed with creativity and culture.

But its neighbouring town of Peacehaven is attracting fans as it’s much easier to step on or up the property ladder there.

Peacehaven is located above the chalk cliffs in East Sussex and its American founder Charles Neville designed the town using the US grid system.

Omini Eni, 59, made the move from Brighton to Peacehaven in search of a quieter pace of life.

He said: “When I moved to Peacehaven, I didn’t realise how peaceful it actually was.

“I’m able to cycle to Brighton Beach in about an hour, and the green space on the development allows me to enjoy walks too. The town offers a similar lifestyle for those who want to experience coastal living like in Brighton – but for a fraction of the price.”

Properties in Brighton had an eye-watering overall average price of £486,443 over the last year, according to Rightmove.

However, the average property price in Peacehaven is significantly cheaper, with an overall average price of £331,883 over the last year. The average UK property price is currently £293,399.

Those looking for accessibility to London may also be impressed that you can reach the capital in around 90 minutes – with trains from nearby Brighton taking around one hour and 20 minutes.

Omini moved to Barratt Homes’ Chalkers Rise development which he says was a perfect fit for him.

He said: “The site offers great accessibility; I can catch a bus from the other side of the development to go into work if I need to. It’s a beautiful location and the residents are so welcoming.”

Visitors to the town also rate it, enthusing about its stunning coastline on travel review website Tripadvisor.

One impressed tourist said: “Enjoy the peace and quite and beautiful views relax take a breath sit down with a picnic and listen to the waves crashing along the shore.”

Another said: “Beautiful location for those that appreciate a natural largely unspoilt setting. Good choice of nearby cafes, pubs and restaurants.”
