Bluetooth trackers have become the latest must-have tech gadget, with items like Apple AirTags, Tile, and Samsung Galaxy Tags skyrocketing in popularity due to their alert-pinging capabilities. These handy devices are attached to essentials such as car keys, handbags, or laptop cases and have become an essential for many.

Some parents have even adopted the use of the Galaxy Smart Tag2, particularly for keeping tabs on children without mobile phones. One satisfied customer who benefited from Amazon’s massive 58% discount exclaimed, “This tag is great, I use it to track my kid to school as he doesn’t take his phone”.

Initially priced at £38.99 per tracker, Amazon has cut the price to £16.90 – the lowest amount recorded by price tracking site CamelCamelCamel. Due to the price cut, over 4,000 units have flown off the virtual shelves this month alone.

Our technology experts have previously put rival products like the Apple AirTags and lower-cost Tile Tags through their paces to locate lost baggage, and this Samsung variant appears just as reliable. Out of over 3,000 reviews on Amazon, a whopping 69% have awarded the Galaxy Smart Tag 2 a perfect score.

A recent buyer praised the product, noting, “They’re small, easily attached to items by the hoop incorporated in the design”, and commented on the user-friendliness of the accompanying app, as reported by The Mirror.

Customers are raving about the effectiveness of a new AI tracker, with one saying: “Most of all they do what they’re designed to do. It’s easy to see where the tags are on the Smart Things app.”

Another content user shared: “I was concerned that there would be areas where there would be no response because of lack of Samsung devices. This doesn’t appear to be the case.”

An individual reported their practical use case: “I currently have a tag on my car keys. My daughter is using the car and I can see she is currently just outside Limerick. Despite being in the middle of nowhere the position shown in the app is correct within 15 meters.”

Equally, another shopper recounted similar success when using Samsung’s tracker for travel purposes, recalling an incident at Liverpool Airport and stating it was an ‘invaluable purchase’: “Finally bought these just before our holiday. We just flew back from Málaga late Saturday night last weekend after a 3-hour delay.”

This person’s relief was clear as they continued: “When we got to the baggage belt a text came through to say that the entire flight’s luggage was still in Málaga. We were told the luggage would be flown to Dublin the next day and delivered to our homes.”

They further added: “The next day we were able to check the whereabouts of our cases (still in Málaga) and track again when they had landed in Dublin.”

“Just make sure they are suitable for your phone”, was one warning from a recent shopper.

Another disgruntled customer highlighted a significant issue: “I have returned this item as it isn’t compatible with any other phone. And Amazon says not returned….not clear that they aren’t compatible with other phones.”

In our previous tests, we pitted the AirTag against the Tile, finding both to be effective for tracking your belongings. For those seeking compatibility across various smartphones, we suggest the Tile Tag, despite its in-app purchases, while the AirTag remains a solid choice for iPhone enthusiasts.
