A food reviewer has given his verdict on Jeremy Clarkson’s new pub, The Farmer’s Dog, which opened last month.
TikTok content creator Eating With Tod spent the day at the new pub to see if the food and drink matched up to the hypesurrounding Clarkson’s latest venture.
He said: “Firstly, we checked out the tent which houses a Diddly Squat farm shop, merch stores, and a butchery.
“And, of course, a bar that sells Hawkstone beer. We queued outside and it took exactly 11 minutes to get a beer.
“The beer was great. It was cold, light, not too hoppy, and went down a treat on a hot summer’s day.”
After this, Tod tried a burger from the van outside the pub called the Farmer’s Puppy.
He continued: “They have a food van called the Farmer’s Puppy selling burgers, and everything on the farm is made with 100 percent British produce, which is amazing.
“The patty was seasoned, thick, juicy. The burger sauce was twangy and I love that buttery brush roll.
“However, £14 for a single burger? Now you know why he has a Lamborghini tractor.”
Tod then waited in a long queue for the main pub, where he ordered bread with patte for starter and bangers and mash along with a pie for the main.
He said: “To start you can either have patte or soup. The patte kind of tastes how it looks, it is okay. Nothing special.
“For mains, we went for bangers and mash and the pie. The pie sold out very quickly…the pastry did taste slightly burnt but the meat was soft and tender. It is not bad.
“However, I did find the bangers and mash slightly underwhelming. The sausages were lukewarm, the mash wasn’t very buttery. As expected it was quite a rushed in and out service.
“The food in the pub is pretty bang average. I would definitely come back here for a pint. Would I queue two and a half hours? Definitely not!”
On Friday, Express.co.uk spoke to two big fans of Clarkson who visited the pub who have now said they will never return after waiting 30 minutes in the queue to get inside.
The man named Billy said: “It’s a very ordinary pub. Very average, I was totally underwhelmed. It wasn’t just me, several people in line just walked off furious as well. I definitely will not be visiting again, I’m livid.”
Others have been more positive about the pub.
A visitor posted this review online: “The menu is what you might expect from a good pub and it didn’t disappoint. The quality of ingredients was excellent and the hard-working staff were so welcoming and attentive.
“Of course, the beer and cider were wonderful, chilled and thirst-quenching.”
