Tributes have flooded in for a Berkshire boy and his grandfather who were found dead in a camping tent in Wales.

Kaicy Rakai Zelden Brown, 12, and his grandad David Brown, 66, died in a suspected accidental carbon monoxide poisoning.

An inquest heard it may have been caused by their cooking stove.

Kaicy and David were both found unresponsive by the boy’s uncle at around 11am on September 14. He had been sleeping in a tent nearby.

The family had travelled from Early in Berkshire – around a 200-mile trip – and stayed overnight, before the tragedy struck.

Emergency services were called to the scene, but the pair could sadly not be saved.

Senior coroner Graeme Hughes said at Pontypridd Coroner’s Court that the toxicology report would demonstrate the carbon monoxide levels in the boy’s blood.

Mr Hughes told the family: “My deepest condolences to all of you for the loss of both Kaicy and David in such tragic circumstances.”

An investigation is also ongoing into the death of Kaicy’s grandfather, David, who lived in Wokingham, Berkshire, the court heard.

The inquest has since been adjourned to a later date.

Kaicey’s former primary school paid tribute to the young boy, who they said was an “exceptionally talented artist” who made friends with ease and was “loved by his classmates and adults alike for his easy-going nature and support for others.”
